The business landscape has transformed over the years with an accelerated focus on positioning women in leadership roles, by providing them with the skills and training for industries considered ‘predominately male’. Melissa Wilson, Special Projects Manager SSA (DHL South Africa) was the recent recipient of Top Overall Student and Best Final Project for the Programme in Project Management (PPM) at Enterprises University of Pretoria.
Melissa was able to scoop the top awards following the completion of her studies over the course of six months. Project Management (PM) as a field of study is usually associated with engineering and construction. However, a report released by the Project Management Institute (PMI) forecasted the drastic increase of opportunities in project management as a career by 2027 in the following industries: Management and professional services, manufacturing, finance and insurance, information services and publishing, construction, utilities and oil and gas.
The skills attained in the field of PM are proven to yield a variety of beneficial learning outcomes, which can be implemented in numerous industries. Some of the skills include problem solving, leadership, collaboration, and communication.
